Emily Morgan has found a career she loves, thanks to her commitment and passion, and a fantastic online learning experience at NMIT.

Driven by her enjoyment of administrative tasks in her retail job, Emily decided to further her education so she could level up her career, with a focus on Business Administration.

Opting for online study at NMIT, she completed the New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology).

"I found NMIT offered business administration courses with practical content I could complete online. I studied online, completing the New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) Level 3 and Level 4,” she said.

Reflecting on her study journey, Emily said her biggest challenges were self-motivation and time management.

However, she found the assistance from her tutors invaluable.

“We were given an overall and weekly timetable to follow which made it easier to manage. I would split the workload across my days,” she says. “When I knew I was going on holiday for a week I was able to work ahead which you can’t necessarily do in a classroom.”

Emily is proud of her academic achievements, which include earning an A+! “I struggled at school, so getting my first A+ was very exciting and rewarding,” she said.

As she neared completion of the course, Emily began looking for a role in her chosen area of Business Administration. “I felt confident and prepared throughout the [job-seeking] process from what I had learned from studying.”

She secured the position of Team Administrator at WSP Blenheim, one of the world’s leading design, engineering, and environmental consultancies.

In her role, Emily provides essential administrative support to the team, handling tasks ranging from project management to financial administration.

"I use all the skills I learned from studying, from maintaining systems and processes, to effectively collaborating with others, to processing data and performing financial calculations. I find my role rewarding and fulfilling. I work with a great team and have incredible support. "

"I encourage anyone thinking about studying to go for it!" she says. "It was the best decision I made and opened many doors for my future."
