This industry-recognized, hands-on part-time programme is tailored around the needs of your industry, ensuring you acquire the essential entry-level skills and knowledge. You'll be prepared for roles in various sectors, including horticulture, apiculture, viticulture, aquaculture, and seafood processing.

The duration and on-campus timetable vary depending on your industry interest and its seasonal demands. Please contact us for specific details.

This qualification is targeted at new or potential entrants into Primary Industries including school leavers, career changers and those not yet engaged in education, employment or training.

You will learn skills and knowledge to contribute safely and effectively in the workplace including:

First aid

  • Safe work practises
  • Operate a forklift in the workplace
  • Stock handling - inwards goods, storage and dispatch
  • Ability to complete the necessary documentation

You will also have the opportunity to gain the following four unit standards and practical skills:

  • Manage first aid in an emergency situation
  • Provide first aid
  • Provide basic life support
  • Operate a powered industrial lift truck (forklift)

Industry recognised and hands-on part-time learning, tailored around the needs of your industry, will ensure you gain the entry-level skills and knowledge to provide you with employment opportunities in a variety of Primary Industries including horticulture, apiculture, viticulture, aquaculture and seafood processing.

On-campus learning will be held on the Marlborough Campus one day per week, 9am - 5pm.
