NMIT and Te Pūkenga

The Government has announced that Te Pūkenga will be disestablished and a number of regional polytechnics will be re-established.  As a consequence of the reform, the new NMIT will be established on 1 January 2026 and will assume all business operations of the NMIT business division of Te Pūkenga.

All existing programmes and micro-credentials currently provided by NMIT will be transferred to the new polytechnic.  All enrolments in those programmes and micro-credentials (whether current, former or pending) will automatically transfer to the new polytechnic. 

If you wish to enrol with NMIT for 2026, please continue to apply via our website, and your application/enrolment will be automatically transferred to the new polytechnic in 2026.
