Gain the skills and knowledge you need to apply for your Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW).

This Maritime Crewing programme caters for entry-level deck and engine room crew keen to work at sea on large seagoing vessels. 

You have the option to complete the programme with one of two strands, either Deck Crewing, or, Engineering. 

Each strand meets the competency standards required under STCW and as specified in the Maritime New Zealand Seafarer Certification and Operational Limits Framework(external link).  

Completion of this qualification is a prerequisite to applying for a

  • Maritime New Zealand STCW Deck Watch Rating licence, OR
  • Maritime New Zealand STCW Engine Watch Rating licence. 

Either of these licences will allow you to work with limited supervision as a crew on vessels operating in unlimited waters.
