Megan Edwards started her career as a primary school teacher before moving into management roles in early childhood education centres.
Her enthusiasm for supporting students of all ages to learn, grow, and step into their full potential has allowed for a seamless transition to the tertiary education sector at NMIT.
Megan is a Research Supervisor in the Master of Applied Management programme, working one-on-one with students on the Research Proposal and Research Project courses.
As a Research Supervisor, Megan guides students through the eight-week process of research planning, data collection and writing their thesis.
“It’s just amazing how much they learn over that time and how much they change and grow. It’s really lovely. It’s a real celebration.”
Given the limited time students have to complete their research project, Megan says it’s important for her to be accessible, responsive, and understanding of their needs.
She has empathy for international students who are undertaking research projects in their second language and enjoys helping them with English spelling and grammar.
Having recently completed a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration at Massey University, Megan can relate to what NMIT students are going through.
Her extensive education background includes a Bachelor of Education degree, and Postgraduate Diplomas in Early Childhood Education and Business Administration and Management.
Megan is also a researcher at NMIT and her first journal article is currently being considered for publication.
Outside of NMIT, she’s employed in a senior role in the education sector.
