You do not need any prior knowledge or experience in te reo Māori. This programme and our friendly kaiako (teachers) will help you establish a strong foundation for your learning.

Throughout this course, you will be introduced to key aspects of te reo, including pronunciation, mihimihi (greetings), and introducing yourself.

You'll enjoy four noho wānanga throughout the year. These are two immersive days of shared kai and interactive experiences designed so you can practice what you are learning in a real-life environment.

By the end of this course, you will have a solid foundation in Te Reo Māori and a growing understanding of Te Ao Māori, the Māori worldview.

You will learn these things and more

  • Colours
  • Numbers
  • Days of the week
  • Months of the year
  • Counting people and objects
  • Locations of objects
