Effective management addresses the needs of people, processes, and technology. NMIT leads the way by embedding essential employable skills in its curriculum, including advanced communication, collaboration, intellectual analysis, and critical thinking.

Enhance your applied management skills by focusing on specific and in-depth management aspects. This includes majors and a range of elective courses designed to complement your professional experience and career aspirations. Learners can choose from five majors and an optional research pathway, depending on the selected major.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management constitutes the first 10 months of the 15-18 month Master of Applied Management program. Upon completion, learners can complete their RES904 Thesis in a third and final semester to receive the Master of Applied Management.

Become an effective manager

This Postgraduate Diploma blends theoretical knowledge, practical activities, and small-scale research to provide specialised insight and critical understanding of business challenges. You will enhance your independent research and personal development skills, bolstering your capabilities in managing people and workplace processes.

Learn strategies to boost your team's productivity, navigate organisational change, and handle social and organisational complexities. You will improve your performance monitoring techniques, leverage current and emerging technologies to achieve business objectives and develop skills in business information analysis, decision-making, and effective communication.

The programme offers up to 10 months of full-time study (or part-time over a longer period) with open entry for degree holders from all industries. You can study face-to-face on our Nelson campus and choose from different majors, subject to intake availability. 

Use recognition of prior postgraduate study or extensive work experience to skip courses where you already possess the necessary skills and knowledge. This comprehensive approach ensures that you gain the expertise needed to become an effective manager in your field.
