"NMIT was much smaller than my university in Norway, however it made it a lot easier to connect with people; that goes for both domestic and international students. I also found it very easy to be social in Nelson thanks to SANITI and external organizations which there were a lot of.
Finally, I will say that I think Nelson is a great environment to be in as an exchange student. It has a lot of people, but it is not overwhelmingly big, and everyone there seems unusually positive.
The New Zealand nature was extremely beautiful and unlike anything I have ever seen. Just that alone is enough to make me want to go back."
— Josef Burkan, Norway
"Study abroad is a great opportunity for everyone to become independent, get to know new cultures and countries, and see different types of learning around the world with new career ideas. I would like to thank NMIT and everyone who made my semester here simple, uncomplicated, and eventful."
— Markus Ottersbach, Germany
Markus is shown here visiting a local winery on the beautiful Nelson coast with Thierry from Luxembourg and Callie from the USA.
The NMIT football team is a fantastic way to make friends from New Zealand and around the world. This year we have players from New Zealand, North America, South America, Asia, and Europe. The team competes in the third division of Nelson’s league, enjoying both the matches and social events throughout the week. Study Abroad at NMIT and join the team!
In this video, Tamara Arellano Mora from the United States and Martin Venaas from Norway share their experiences studying at NMIT.
Three Norwegians. All from the same university, all studying information technology at NMIT, and all named "Jørgen". The trio spent an adventure-filled semester in the Nelson Tasman region and loved it.
