Chloe Edwards: Leading the future of women's wellness

"They care about your progress and help you stay on track. I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing now without the support I got here."

Chloe came to NMIT with a genuine passion for fitness and a vision to support women's health in a meaningful way. Three years later, that passion has grown into a powerful purpose — she's preparing to help open New Zealand's first women's contrast and reformer Pilates studio (StudioHer(external link)), offering reformer Pilates alongside ice plunges and saunas in a wellness space designed specifically for women.

"I'll be working as head instructor and hopefully getting in on the business in a year or two," she says.

A journey of growth

While Chloe arrived with energy and drive, her time at NMIT helped her shape that into something even more significant.

"I've come so far with myself – motivation, self-confidence, body image," she reflects. "I've learned how to live a truly healthy lifestyle without cutting things out or limiting life."

Through real-world learning and connections with a wide range of people, she discovered her own potential and the impact she could have—not just in fitness but also in empowering others.

"You meet amazing people and see the real impact you can make."

For Chloe, the balance of academic learning and practical experience at NMIT helped bring her purpose into focus.

"The tutors know your name. They care about your progress and help you stay on track. I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing now without the support I got here."

She also stepped into leadership roles early on, running regional fitness sessions — including a recent Mat Pilates session at NMIT for first-year students.

"It was more than just teaching a class," she explains. "It was about helping them understand group fitness, how to instruct, and how to lead."

Chloe's story is more than a personal success — it's an inspiring reminder that with the proper support, passion can grow into purpose, and purpose can unlock potential.

"I'd say 100% do it," she says to anyone considering study. "This programme gave me everything I needed to take the next step."
